I knew at some point in my recording career I would have to make a solo album where I could orchestrate and overdub all the parts. That particular way of recording is something I've experimented with since I was a kid, so that made this project unfold fairly effortlessly.
The percussion instruments available to me at the time were of a "world" variety, so there is a markedly global sound as a bed for my more jazz oriented piano stylings. I thought it worked very well, and made for a unique take on these mainly "standard jazz repertoire" pieces.
